With the launch of Key Region Leiden on 7 July, a renewed public-private partnership commenced, in which Unmanned Valley plays a prominent role. Under this new name, seven municipalities, three knowledge institutions, three business associations, and three innovation clusters, including Unmanned Valley, are joining forces to strengthen the regional economy and stimulate broad-based prosperity.

Key Region Leiden builds upon the cooperation within Economie071 and marks a next step in the development of the Leiden – Katwijk – Noordwijk knowledge axis. The focus lies on three strategic clusters: bioscience, aerospace, and unmanned systems. Together, they form a compact yet powerful innovation landscape where key enabling technologies, entrepreneurship, and talent development converge.

Within this partnership, Unmanned Valley represents the cluster around unmanned systems – a sector with a growing impact on security, logistics, sustainability, and more. From the former Valkenburg naval air base, businesses, researchers, and government bodies work together here on technological innovations in the field of drones, sensors, and robotics.

With this positioning, Key Region Leiden underscores the importance of technological autonomy and innovative strength, demonstrating that unmanned systems form an indispensable link in the knowledge economy of the future.

Within Key Region Leiden, we collaborate with partners such as the Leiden Bio Science Park and NL Space Campus on cross-sector collaborations, shared facilities, talent development, and international positioning.
